Why Verification Matters
Verification is the core of our quality promise. Before a company is approved for the directory we confirm that it is a real, operating business, and we use verification records (licenses, insurance, and credentials) to give you a trustworthy picture of each provider.
What We Check
Depending on the trade and the provider, we check and display some or all of the following:
- License: the license number and status for trades that require one (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and more).
- Insurance: general liability coverage and, where relevant, workers compensation.
- Identity: a physical business address, working phone/email, and an active business record.
- Background checks: for providers who work inside homes, where this is applicable and available.
- Certifications: manufacturer and industry certifications claimed by the business.
How Status Is Displayed
Each provider profile shows badges for the verification records we have confirmed, along with valid dates where available. A badge reflects the latest record we hold; we ask providers to renew expiring credentials and we flag records when they lapse.
What We Do Not Verify
We do not perform our own background investigation of every individual employee, and verification does not guarantee the quality of any particular job. Always confirm insurance and licensing details with the provider directly before hiring, and compare multiple quotes.
Reporting Concerns
If a provider verification record is inaccurate or a listed credential has expired, please report it through our Contact page and we will review the record and update the listing.
